Provoyeur leads West Warwick past East Providence, 8-4!

Led by the solid pitching of Mason Provoyeur (pictured #40) and some timely hitting from Dylan Lombari (pictured #9), West Warwick (9-3) beat the Knights of East Providence, 8-4.

Provoyeur, who had a shaky first inning, ended up striking out 11 batters and allowing just two earned runs on three hits. Colby Knott closed out the game by striking out two batters in the seventh.

East Providence reliever, Zach Sutton, worked 2 2/3 innings and allowed just one unearned run on two hits.

Down 3-2 in the top of the fourth inning, Provoyeur led off with a double and scored one batter later on Colby Knott’s rbi single to right-center.

In the top of the fifth inning, West Warwick scored four runs on two hits and three walks. Dylan Lombari hit an rbi triple and then, scored on Provoyeur’s suicide squeeze.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Black and Orange added an insurance run when Lombari doubled to right-center, moved to third base when Provoyeur reached on an error and then, scored on a deep sacrifice fly by Alex Pedus.

Offensively, West Warwick was led by Dylan Lombari (2/2, one double, one triple, three runs scored and one rbi), Mason Provoyeur (2/4, one double and one rbi), Kyle Kortick (1/2, two runs scored, two walks and three stolen bases), Colby Knott (1/3, one rbi) and Jack Boulay (three walks and two runs scored).

The Knights received hits from Jason Duclos (1/3, one run scored), Nick Allienello (1/2, two runs scored and four stolen bases) and Zach Sutton (1/1, one stolen base and one rbi).
